Gana Dosha

Gana dosha arises in matching when the partners' nakshatra ganas are incompatible — most seriously a Deva and a Rakshasa pairing, which scores zero of the 6 gana points. Gana classifies each nakshatra as Deva, Manushya or Rakshasa, describing broad temperament rather than character.
Also called: Gana kuta mismatch.

Deva–Rakshasa pairing scores 0 of 6; Manushya–Rakshasa scores 0 or 1 depending on direction.

- Both partners' Moon signs share the same lord
- The Moon signs are in a mutual friendly relationship
- Strong scores across the remaining kootas, particularly nadi and bhakoot
Gana describes temperament in a very coarse three-way split, and the Rakshasa label carries connotations in translation that the tradition does not intend. It is best read as a broad temperament note rather than a judgement.
