- How is the starting dasha determined?
- The Moon's nakshatra lord gives the birth mahadasha. The fraction of the nakshatra already traversed gives the fraction of that mahadasha already elapsed, so the balance at birth is calculated from the Moon's exact degree.
- Why do the dates differ slightly between sites?
- Most differences come from the ayanamsa used, the ephemeris, and whether a 365.25-day year or exact ephemeris time is used for period length. This calculator uses Lahiri with the Swiss Ephemeris.
