Annaprashan (first grains) · 2027
By The Astrologic Desk · Editorial and calculation review
Annaprashan marks the first feeding of solid food. Electional practice looks for a stable lagna, a well-placed Moon and a nakshatra associated with nourishment — Pushya is the textbook favourite — while avoiding malefic transits through the 8th from the elected lagna.
Why the sky is consulted
The rite is read as the beginning of independent nourishment. The elected sky is meant to support digestion, growth and the mother's recovery as much as the child's.
Factors used to elect
- Pushya, Hasta, Rohini or Revati rising or occupied by the Moon
- Benefic weekday (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)
- Avoidance of the 8th and 12th bhavas occupied by Saturn or Rahu
What to avoid
- Krishna Chaturdashi
- Amavasya
- When the child is ill
